DESCRIPTION:There are more childless men than equivalent women but there is little research on men’s lived experience of unwanted childlessness. Not fulfilling the status of parenthood may lead to a complex form of bereavement and be a significant challenge to individual and cultural identity. Findings drawn from qualitative interviews show the social\, emotional and relational impact of male involuntary childlessness across the life course. \nRobin is an associate lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University. He specialises in the impact of male childlessness across the life course. His careers include research consultant\, counsellor\, deputy technical manager\, scientific photographer and kitchen assistant. He is a founder member of the campaign group Ageing Without Children. \nThis Presentation will be recorded.
